Mac Developer in Magor (South Wales)

We are looking for an experienced Mac Developer to join our team and play a crucial role in delivering successful products.  Based in our Research and Development Offices in Magor (South Wales) you will be responsible for developing Mac OS drivers and User Iinterfaces, software plugins and development test tools for our cutting edge consumer products.

. Responsibilities

  1. To design cost effective consumer products that meet our exacting technical and quality requirements.
  2. To be an active and effective member of a multi-disciplinary team, developing high and low level software, including a hands-on role in system specification and design, testing, and release.
  3. To ensure the timely delivery of fully documented working prototypes, assist in the development and support of system SDK’s, etc. as required, which satisfy the technical and marketing specifications.
  4. To provide full documentation of all software and control of software releases.
  5. To assist in the design and development of software and game plugin code to support Mad Catz products running on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux and Gaming Consoles.
  6. To ensure close liaison with the Software, Firmware, Electronics and Mechanical teams
  7. Technical investigation and promotion of product concepts utilising new technologies particularly those that will/may reduce cost or improve quality in current products
  8. Initial development of prototype systems
  9. Ensure high design quality and maintainability through good practice, peer review, clear documentation, testing and thorough verification
  10. Integration with Software/Electrical/Electronic/Firmware systems.
  11. Develop and test product development and testing software tools.
  12. Monitor and effectively communicate project status, business issues and any significant developments to senior management team
  13. Manage consultants, technical contacts and mentor software team in Asia
  14. Monitoring, support and compliance with internal/external hardware and software standards
  15. Strive to ensure that designs are reliable and will perform consistently across a range of operating environments.

General

  • Overseas travel occasionally required. Mainly USA and Far East (eg China, Hong Kong, Taiwan).

Qualifications (Relevant education, experience, and knowledge, skills, and abilities)

  • Good Software/Computing/Microsystems degree or equivalent
  •  5+ years  experience ideally working on consumer related technologies
  • Experience of working in small multi-disciplined teams.
  • Knowledge and experience of the complete software life cycle
  • Real time system design & implementation
  • Objective C and HTML required. C#, .NET experience useful.
  • Mac OS programming skills essential. Unix/Linux, Windows SDK and Windows programming experience beneficial.
  • No language/OS/hardware prejudices and experience of repositories
  • Experience of short product life cycles
  • Detailed technical investigation & promotion of Product Concepts utilizing new technologies
  • Methodical, detailed and structured with a strong process driven approach
  • Adaptable and resilient with a positive attitude towards change

Principal Mechanical Design Engineer in Magor (South Wales)

We are looking for an experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in delivering successful products.  Based in our Research and Development Offices in Magor (South Wales) you will be involved in the development of cutting edge consumer products developing mechanical components and systems.

Responsibilities
Strategic / Management Responsibilities

  • Lead Mechanical Engineer, responsible for the development / Improvement of, Mad Catz ME design teams and process globally. Ensure teams are working to world class processes, systems and procedures, within assigned timeframes.
  • Research and Development into new ME technologies that apply to MCZ business models. Pivotal in ensuring new technology scalability,  and to improve on going manufacturing quality and costs etc
  • Work closely with Global teams (mainly China) on technology / Design transfer. To include mentoring and approving detail design work co-developed or assigned with Asia team of mechanical engineers.
  • Proactively drive change and continuous improvement in Design, process and cost.
  • Project Management of NPD, monitoring of assigned project performance.   Accurate schedule / cost planning in NPD process using Power Steering project management process

Project Responsibilities

  • Hands on Mechanical Engineering design, and implementation. To include complex mechanism design, Electro-Mechanical Assemblies, and possess good working knowledge of all main manufacturing processes, eg, Injection Moulding / Press Tools / Post Finishing processes.
  • Usage of DFM / DFM / DFMEA techniques.  Including engineering design to cost targets, and best practice integration of mechanical and electrical/electronic systems.
  • To ensure the timely delivery of fully documented working prototypes, 3D models, layouts, devices etc. as required, which satisfy the technical and marketing specifications.
  • Mechanical Engineering design using 3D Solid / Surface CAD (preferably SolidWorks/PRO-E)
  • Usage of Rapid Prototyping systems, etc to ensure optimum product quality/performance.
  • Verification of product designs and mechanical integrity, at all key stages of the company’s stage gate NPD process.
  • Authoring and control of product specifications, and other technical documents.  Ensuring that technical and performance specifications are compliant.
  • Performing engineering analysis and testing on components and systems (stress, life, forces, torque, power, reliability). Sound knowledge and ideally usage of FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and Mold Flow Analysis.
  • Verification of product quality and integrity, from concept to manufacture ensuring product is fit for purpose

  • International travel to Asia for long project periods (particularly at key times in development cycle).

Human Resources Manager – APAC Location: Nanshan China

Mad Catz (NYSE MKT: MCZ) is a global provider of innovative interactive entertainment products marketed under its Mad Catz® (gaming), Tritton® (audio), and Saitek® (simulation) brands. We are seeking energetic, outgoing professionals who value teamwork, creativity and a casual yet fast-paced work environment. This Human Resources Manager – APAC is a hands-on position that is responsible for all aspects of human resource management for the employees in the APAC Region, specifically Hong Kong, China, Japan, and any potential growth in the region. Duties including but not limited to recruitment, induction, development and termination, performance management, facilitating the process of setting benefit and compensation packages, recommend and implement approved employee policies and procedures effectively, and comply with relevant local employment law and taxation requirements. This role has direct responsibility for managing the human resources and administration team within the region. This position reports functionally to the Director of Human Resources at Corporate Headquarters in San Diego, CA USA and to the Senior Manager of Finance and Administration in Hong Kong. This position will be based in the Nanshan China office with occasional days in Hong Kong as required and visits to remote offices only when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the key human resources business partner for the region; diagnose, discuss and resolve regional needs.
  • Provide comprehensive human resources coverage of day to day operations ensuring the efficient delivery of salary payments, salary adjustment, recruitment processes, and the accuracy of employee data records (including preparation, distribution of detailed reports, e.g. overtime, leave balance, headcount, and retirement contribution reports).
  • Establish, maintain employee records; ensure that employee changes are communicated, entered correctly and made on timely basis, review changes for proper authorization and adherence to internal human resources policies and procedures including compliance with local employment laws.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential matters such as employee relations, and organizational changes, planning and protecting the security of information, data and files.
  • Ensure all payroll and pay-related activities are processed timely and accurately.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of the recruitment process, including training hiring managers on screening, interviewing, negotiating, and closing the hire
  • Carry out a reference check of new hires by obtaining documentation such as resumes, education certificates, professional awards, reference letter from present or past employers, and last salary proof
  • Explain the organization’s employment notice and procedures and provide induction plan (if any) to the new hires.
  • Interpret, advise and assist employees and managers regarding cooperative agreement application, leave management and benefit administration, and HR procedures and policies within the specified guidelines
  • Manage employee relations issues by coaching employees and supervisors with the interpretation and fair application of company policies and procedures; facilitates and participates in employee corrective action meetings to effectively resolve concerns/issues.
  • Coordinate and conduct training on policies and procedures where appropriate.
  • Monitor employee performance appraisal process; ensure the employee job description are updated annually and are reflective of work being done by employee
  • Supervise office administration to ensure coverage of services including reception, office facility and security management, and space planning.
  • Maintain and recommend changes to the employee handbook and procedures manual.
  • Maintain contact with labor and social insurance authorities to seek for advice in variety of human resource activities including contract interpretations, employee relations and benefits management.
  • Manage the company’s relationship with HR-related services, insurance brokers, service providers, and other appropriate vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with all local laws and company policies; stay current on local employment law updates for changes that affect HR.
  • Seek improvement through evaluation and recommendation for revision to policies and procedures.
  • Support and provide guidance on HR processes within the region to include performance reviews, talent assessment and succession planning.
  • Be a team player; help out with duties as assigned.

Qualification

  • University graduate with an HR discipline preferred but not mandatory
  • At least 6+ years of experience in HR field with Asia regional and team lead responsibilities a plus.
  • Competent knowledge of HK & China Employment Ordinance, Tax Regulations, Mandatory Provident Fund operation and other employment-related legislations
  • Able to work in Hong Kong and China, as well as other Asia locations
  • Strong PC skills, specifically in MS office applications
  • Positive attitude with courteous and professional demeanor; able to maintain a good working relationship with co-workers and general public
  • High integrity and respect for confidentiality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; clear speaking voice; fluency of verbal and written Chinese, Cantonese, and English is required
