UPDATE: Xian's victory at EVOLUTION 2013 has made quite a splash in his home of Singapore, with news outlets from all over the city-state covering the event. Singapore's largest paper, The Straits Times, gave Xian front page coverage, while numerous mainstream online media outlets have covered the win as well. Even Singapore's primary political party, People's Action Party, offered their congratulations to Xian via Facebook.

Every year the best fighting game players from around the world gather in Las Vegas, NV, but this year the level of competition seemed higher than ever. That didn't stop the pride of Singapore, Mad Catz and Team.DM's Xian from wading through the fire to come out on top as EVOLUTION 2013 World Champion!

Xian was forced to face fellow Mad Catz teammate TOKIDO in the Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition ver. 2012 Grand Finals (though it was the third time today the two squared off, once in the SSFIVAE Winner's Bracket, and again in King of Fighters XIII), but he didn't let the pressure of being in the spotlight rattle him. With a crowd full of rowdy supporters, Xian guided his Gen through wave after wave of hadoukens from TOKIDO's Akuma to ultimately secure victory. Not only was this a dream fulfilled for Xian, but for all of Team.DM as well, who can now take pride in the fact that Singapore is seen as a global force in the fighting game community.

We will have more coverage of EVOLUTION 2013 soon, but we wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of our professional players for their hard work, and to congratulate the finalists, Daigo “The Beast” Umehara, Hajime “TOKIDO” Taniguchi, and the EVOLUTION 2013 World Champion, Ho Kun Xian!
